Yeehaw

Nago came by today with two horses. Ah, how nice. We tried to simply admire his animals, but nope, he wasn’t having it. He’s determined to Ticofy us, so we were compelled to don our jeans and rubber boots and ungracefully mount his majestic animals (Tequila and Canela). His two sons (12 and 10) led us around the property and we tried to act dignified even though it felt like we were at the fair on a pony ride. Wilder sat with Mama and did a great job! For all of his talk and interest in horses, he’s always shied away from getting on one, so the 10 minutes he rode (without screaming) was a fantastic feat!

Then Nago decides that we should each take a turn riding a horse on our own. I went first, but when it became apparent that I had no idea how to manage the horse, or more simply put, make it go at all, he had his oldest son, Daniel, lead me off of the property and down the road. Daniel had no mercy whatsoever and despite my protests, made the horse trot – it may as well have been sprinting down the road. I held on for dear life, shaking and jostling all over the place just trying not to fall off and look like a total idiot. After me, Chris had the same experience, except that on his ride, one of the horses stepped on something sharp and injured itself, so they had to stop at our neighbor’s house and get a ride home while the horse took a break and got a little TLC.

Chris seems fine today, but I am sore from head to toe. A horsewoman I am not! But, if Nago has his way, we’ll be fine equestrians by the end of our tenure here. Hmmm, we’ll see.
