Well, so much for our fantasies of lounging around our rural property naked! Except for Wilder, of course, who doesn’t care if the neighbors see him in the buff, any visions we had of total privacy and aloneness have been vanquished by the consistent stream of visitors who drop in. We enjoy our new friends and appreciate the company we receive, but we get more of it here on a daily basis than we did in Guerneville! Go figure! It’s all still muy tranquilo, of course, but not many local folks out here have phones, so their arrival is heralded only by the humm of their motorcycles or the sound of their voices coming up the drive. We must be in a constant state of readiness for the unexpected -- Nago may come by to do some work, Leo may stop in to bring some plants or vegetables, Stan may saunter over to bring some breadfruit and hibiscus clippings, or to shoot the proverbial sh*t with Chris about computers... Whoever, whenever!
Nothing around here is really scheduled or planned, so people just come and go as the day allows. Even if a previous plan has been made and someone tells you they're coming over at 5pm on a certain day, they might not make it and will show up sometime the next day instead. Tranquilo. No problema. Whatever. . . . . Not being a devout planner myself, I don't mind the laissez faire attitude toward getting things done and having a more or less loose design or strategy towards the day. Chris is, of course, a different beast, and thrives on a bit more structure, but he's definitely learning to appreciate a more relaxed approach. If we could just be naked more often, things would be perfecto! (Though with all the creepy crawlies around, being naked too often probably wouldn’t be prudent.)
