Leo, pictured with his lombrices (worms), is a 52 year old Tico farmer, neighbor and friend. He is also our new teacher of the land. He is responsible for originally planting all that grows, edible or ornamental, here at Casa Mariposa. He is organic in the most whole sense of the word, from the slow, deliberate nature of his words to the bio-dynamic methods of farming that he follows. He owns no car and no motorcycle, but does have a cell phone, a horse, and a finca (farm). He has offered us fresh pollo, apio (celery), lechuga (lettuce), plants, and most of all, his expertise in helping us plan our finca and the things we will grow here. And oh how they grow...
